Get to know the person behind the practice… Jessica Weeks, RP
Jessica is a Registered Psychotherapist, licensed by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and a member in good standing of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Providers (OAMHP). Jessica also provides Clinical Supervision to other Psychotherapists.
Jessica holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in Psychology from the University of Ottawa, as well as a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Prior to providing psychotherapy, Jessica spent valuable time working in group treatment for youth with mental health and behavioural concerns, as well as adults struggling with substance use addictions. It was time spent in these group settings that drove her pathway towards Psychotherapy - a passion for digging deeper to understand what someone has been through to influence their experiences, understanding and processing trauma, and repairing deep emotional wounds emerged. At the heart of therapy with Jessica exists the core belief that we are largely shaped by what we have been through, and it is crucial to acknowledge and understand this to understand ourselves.
Jessica offers psychotherapy to individuals who encounter a range of life's difficulties, fostering change through examining beliefs about oneself and the world, exploring one’s life to understand where these beliefs come from, and working together to create new meaning and learning to listen and respond more effectively to one’s nervous system and emotional needs.
A highly collaborative and client-centred approach to therapy is prioritized here - therapist and client are a team, working together to achieve a desired outcome. Creating a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship is at the forefront of therapy with Jessica; she aims to create a comfortable environment through authenticity, bringing laughter, connection, and humanness into the therapy room whenever possible. Where appropriate, therapeutic self-disclosure may be used to strengthen the bond and help you recognize that you are not alone in your experience, and that your therapist is human too. The primary focus is always you, and the process will be tailored to meet your needs.
Reaching out for therapy can feel intimidating, but it is truly something to be proud of: you are putting yourself first, and carving out space to focus on your experience and needs. Here, you will always be met with warmth and compassion. You are always welcome to reach out with any questions you may have about the process.
